The Lost World: the White City and the Ancient Lizard Plateau

Day 1

Arrival and Ashgabat

• Arrival. Entry visa at the airport, customs formalities.
• Meeting with the guide holding a LATIF sign. Transfer to the hotel, check-in. Breakfast at the hotel.
• Start of the sightseeing programme: walks through the central parks and squares, the Monument of Independence, the Arch of Neutrality, the Wedding Palace and the Russian Bazaar.
• Visit to the Ertugrul Gazi mosque.
• Visit to the National Museum of Turkmenistan and the carpet shops.

Overnight: Hotel in Ashgabat

Day 2

Flight to Kerki

• Packed breakfast. Hotel check-out. Transfer to the airport, flight to Kerki.
• Arrival. Transfer to the tourist base.
• Please note: the base is not a five-star hotel, but it provides all necessary conditions — each room has its own shower and toilet.
• Kete-Kel lake: 25 hectares of mineralised water which locals believe has healing properties.
• Leisure time at the base.

Day 3

The Dinosaur Plateau

• Excursion to the Dinosaur Plateau — a sloping limestone slab of about 200 × 80 m near the village of Hojapil in the Kugitang mountains (Koytendag in Turkmen). Over 2,000 tracks make it the world's largest repository of dinosaur footprints. The three-toed prints, 20 to 70 cm across, were left by Megalosaurs, Iguanodons and Tyrannosaurs 140–145 million years ago.
• The Kyrk-Gyz grotto (Forty Girls) — a sacred site adorned with tens of thousands of ribbons.
• Excursion to the narrowest gorge, Umbar-Dere: tight and winding, then wide and full of light reflected off the sheer cliffs. Especially beautiful in spring.

Day 4

Return and horse farm

• Transfer to Kerki airport, check-in, flight to Ashgabat.
• Arrival. Hotel accommodation.
• Excursion to a private horse farm to see the world-famous Akhal-Teke horses. Riding available for an extra fee.
• Dinner.

Day 5

Departure

• Transfer to the airport. Flight home. End of the programme.
